Tyler Jacobson is a multidisciplinary circus artist based in southern California specializing primarily in handbalancing and contortion. His circus journey started when he was enrolled in the Great Y Circus of Redlands, California as an after-school program in 2006. He continued to pursue circus recreationally throughout college, exploring aerial arts, hula hoop, and diabolo while completing a double major in English and Spanish from Walla Walla University before seeking more formal circus training. Tyler also completed a master’s degree in Cultural Studies from Claremont Graduate University, prompting a scholarly curiosity as to how nonverbal performing arts like circus communicate with audiences. Since then, Tyler has continued his training under figures including Jasmine Straga, Enkhee Smith, and Joe Pinzon to refine his artistry while performing with Cirque Dreams Holidaze, Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor, and of course, Cirque Us.
